Japan Power Company Lahore — 120 MW Oil

Japan Power Company Lahore is a 120 MW oil-fired power plant located in Lahore, Pakistan, operated by an Independent Power Producer (IPP) since its commissioning in 2000. The facility generates electricity from oil, contributing to Pakistan’s overall energy generation.

It is the 23rd largest oil plant in Pakistan. With 120 MW, it represents 1.23% of the country’s total oil capacity of 9,774 MW. Pakistan has 26 oil plants with a combined capacity of 9,774 MW. Compared to the largest oil plant, کوٹ ادو پاور پلانٹ at 1,600 MW, this facility is approximately one-thirteenth the size.

Oil plays a smaller role in Pakistan’s energy mix, contributing around 10% of the total electricity generation. The Japan Power Company Lahore utilizes imported oil, which is a common practice due to limited domestic production. The plant is located approximately 20 km from the center of Lahore in the Punjab province.
