Oulu — 105 MW Biomass

Oulu is a 105 MW biomass power plant located in Finland, operated by Stora Enso Oyj Oulun tehdas. This facility also uses waste as a secondary fuel, enhancing its role in renewable energy production.

It ranks as the 6th largest biomass plant in Finland. With a capacity of 105 MW, it accounts for 5.03% of Finland’s total biomass capacity of 2,087 MW. Finland has a total of 36 biomass plants with a combined capacity of 2,087 MW. In comparison to the largest biomass plant, Toppila 1 ja 2 at 195 MW, Oulu is about 54% the size.

Biomass energy plays a significant role in Finland’s energy landscape, aiding in the transition to more sustainable energy sources. The use of biomass and waste aligns with Finland’s objectives to minimize carbon emissions and promote renewable energy. The plant is located in northern Finland, approximately 10 km from the city of Oulu.
