Penamacor — 124 MW Wind

Penamacor is a 123.8 MW wind power plant located in Portugal, commissioned in 2006. The facility generates electricity from wind, contributing to the country’s renewable energy portfolio.

Penamacor ranks as the 6th largest wind plant in Portugal. With 123.8 MW, it represents 2.51% of Portugal’s total wind capacity of 4,935 MW. Portugal has 222 wind plants with a combined capacity of 4,935 MW. Compared to the largest wind plant, Alto Douro at 253 MW, Penamacor is approximately 48.9% the size.

Wind energy plays a vital role in Portugal’s energy landscape, accounting for about 25% of the total electricity generation. The Penamacor plant takes advantage of the country’s favorable wind conditions, supporting the transition to cleaner energy sources. It is situated approximately 200 km northeast of Lisbon in the Centro region.
