Bogue Power Station — 120 MW Natural Gas

Bogue is a 120 MW gas-fired power plant located in Jamaica, operated by Jamaica Public Service Company. The plant generates electricity using natural gas and is the only gas plant in the country.

Bogue ranks as the largest gas plant in Jamaica, with a capacity of 120 MW, which accounts for 100% of the country’s total gas capacity of 120 MW. Jamaica has only one gas plant, and Bogue is the sole contributor to the country’s gas-fired electricity generation. In comparison, the largest power plant in Jamaica overall has a capacity of 120 MW, which means Bogue is equal in size.

Gas-fired power generation is essential for Jamaica’s energy landscape, providing a cleaner alternative to oil-based generation. The country is working to diversify its energy mix, and Bogue plays a pivotal role in this transition. The plant is located approximately 20 km from Kingston, the capital city of Jamaica.
