An Khanh I — 120 MW Coal

An Khanh I is a 120 MW coal-fired power plant located in Vietnam, operated by An Khanh Electricity Jsc since its commissioning in 2015. This facility generates electricity from coal, contributing to Vietnam’s thermal power generation capacity.

It ranks as the 28th largest coal plant in Vietnam. With 120 MW, it represents 0.57% of the country’s total coal capacity of 21,016 MW. Vietnam has 35 coal plants with a combined capacity of 21,016 MW. Compared to the largest coal plant, Nhà máy Nhiệt điện Duyên Hải 1 at 1,245 MW, An Khanh I is approximately 10% the size.

Coal remains a major part of Vietnam’s energy mix, providing about 30% of the country’s electricity generation. The An Khanh I plant utilizes domestic coal resources, which are essential for meeting the growing energy demand in the region. It is situated approximately 40 km east of Hanoi in the northern part of the country.
