CT INDEPENDENCIA — 120 MW Natural Gas

CT INDEPENDENCIA is a 120 MW gas-fired power plant located in Argentina, operated by GENERACION INDEPENDENCIA SA since its commissioning in 1995. The facility generates electricity using natural gas, contributing to the nation’s gas-fired power generation.

It is the 45th largest gas plant in Argentina. With 120 MW, it represents 0.51% of the country’s total gas capacity of 23,690 MW. Argentina has 82 gas plants with a combined capacity of 23,690 MW. Compared to the country’s largest gas plant, the Costanera power station at 2,324 MW, CT INDEPENDENCIA is about 1/19 the size.

Natural gas plays a vital role in Argentina’s energy landscape, accounting for roughly 34% of the total electricity generation. The plant utilizes local gas supplies, enhancing energy security. CT INDEPENDENCIA is located in the province of Salta, approximately 150 km northwest of the city of Salta.
