Lappeenranta Kaukaan tehdas is a 119 MW biomass power plant located in Finland, operated by Kaukaan Voima Oy. The facility generates electricity from biomass and gas, contributing to Finland’s renewable energy capacity.

It ranks as the 3rd largest biomass plant in Finland. With 119 MW, it represents 5.7% of the country’s total biomass capacity of 2,087 MW. Finland has 36 biomass plants with a combined capacity of 2,087 MW. Compared to the largest biomass plant, Toppila 1 ja 2 at 195 MW, this facility is approximately 61% the size.

Biomass energy is increasingly important in Finland’s energy strategy, accounting for about 18% of the country’s renewable energy generation. The country’s forestry industry provides a significant source of biomass feedstock. The plant is located in South Karelia, approximately 230 km northeast of Helsinki.
