Western 102 Power Plant — 119 MW Natural Gas

Western 102 Power Plant is a 118.6 MW gas-fired and solar hybrid facility located in the United States. Operated by Nevada Gold Mines, it was commissioned in 2006. The plant utilizes natural gas as its primary fuel source, supplemented by solar energy.

This plant ranks as the 890th largest gas plant in the United States. With a capacity of 118.6 MW, it represents 0.02% of the total gas capacity of 592,244 MW in the country. The United States has 1,883 gas plants with a combined capacity of 592,244 MW. In comparison to the largest gas plant, West County Energy Center at 4,263 MW, Western 102 is about 0.03 times its size.

Natural gas plays a significant role in the U.S. energy landscape, contributing around 40% of the total electricity generation. The country is increasingly relying on gas due to its lower emissions compared to coal. The plant is located in Nevada, approximately 40 miles east of Reno.
