Ijmond — 114 MW Natural Gas

Ijmond is a 114 MW gas-fired power plant located in the Netherlands, operated by Vattenfall. Commissioned in 1997, the plant generates electricity using natural gas as fuel.

Ijmond ranks as the 34th largest gas plant in the Netherlands. With a capacity of 114 MW, it represents 0.43% of the country’s total gas capacity of 26,558 MW. The Netherlands has 39 gas plants with a combined capacity of 26,558 MW. Compared to the largest gas plant, Eems at 2,465 MW, Ijmond is roughly one-twenty-second the size.

Natural gas plays a significant role in the Netherlands’ energy landscape, accounting for about 62% of the country’s electricity generation. The country’s extensive gas infrastructure and reserves support this reliance on gas. Ijmond is located in the North Holland province, approximately 25 km from Amsterdam.
