Allai Khwar Hydropower Plant — 121 MW Hydroelectric

Allai Khwar Hydropower Plant is a 121 MW hydroelectric facility located in Pakistan, operated by the Water & Power Development Authority. The plant contributes to the generation of renewable energy through the harnessing of river water.

Allai Khwar ranks as the 29th largest hydro plant in Pakistan. With a capacity of 121 MW, it represents 0.28% of Pakistan’s total hydro capacity of 43,855 MW. Pakistan has 63 hydro plants with a combined capacity exceeding 43,000 MW. Compared to the largest hydro plant in the country, Bunji Dam at 7,100 MW, Allai Khwar is approximately 1.7% the size.

Hydropower is a significant source of energy in Pakistan, contributing to the country’s electricity supply. The mountainous terrain and numerous rivers in the region facilitate the development of hydroelectric projects. Allai Khwar is located approximately 150 km from Islamabad.
