Krokströmmen — 103 MW Hydroelectric

Krokströmmen is a 103 MW hydroelectric power plant located in Sweden, operated by Fortum since its commissioning in 1952. The facility generates electricity from hydropower, contributing to Sweden’s renewable energy capacity.

It ranks as the 56th largest hydro plant in Sweden, which has a total of 216 hydro plants with a combined capacity of 17,541 MW. With 103 MW, Krokströmmen represents 0.59% of the country’s total hydro capacity. The largest hydro plant in Sweden, Karlshamn, has a capacity of 1,020 MW, making Krokströmmen approximately 10% the size of that facility.

Hydropower is a vital component of Sweden’s energy mix, supplying around 45% of the country’s electricity generation.
