Langvatn — 115 MW Hydroelectric

Langvatn is a 115 MW hydroelectric power plant located in Norway. It is one of the many facilities generating electricity from water resources in the country. The plant contributes to Norway’s extensive hydroelectric capacity.

Langvatn ranks as the 80th largest hydro plant in Norway. With its 115 MW capacity, it represents 0.34% of the country’s total hydro capacity of 33,795 MW. Norway has 376 hydro plants with a combined capacity exceeding 33,000 MW. Compared to the largest hydro plant in Norway, Kvilldal at 1,444 MW, Langvatn is approximately one-twelfth the size.

Hydropower is a dominant energy source in Norway, accounting for around 95% of the country’s electricity generation. The plant utilizes the abundant water resources available in the region, which is characterized by numerous rivers and lakes. Langvatn is situated in Northern Norway, approximately 1,000 km north of Oslo.
