Masjid al-Haram Power Stations is a 112 MW gas-fired power plant located in Saudi Arabia. Operated by the Saudi Electricity Company, it has been operational since 1954.

This facility ranks as the 47th largest gas plant in Saudi Arabia. With a capacity of 112 MW, it represents 0.14% of the country’s total gas capacity of 78,250 MW. Saudi Arabia has 60 gas plants with a combined capacity of 78,250 MW. The largest gas plant, Shoaiba Thermal Power Plant, has a capacity of 6,531 MW, making Masjid al-Haram approximately one-fifty-eighth the size of Shoaiba.

Gas-fired power generation is a significant part of Saudi Arabia’s energy landscape, accounting for about 52% of total electricity generation. The country’s reliance on natural gas is driven by its vast reserves. The Masjid al-Haram Power Stations are located in the Mecca region, serving a critical role in supporting the energy needs of the holy site.
