MONTORIO — 110 MW Hydroelectric

Montorio is a 110 MW hydroelectric power plant located in Italy. It generates electricity using water flow and is part of the country’s renewable energy infrastructure.

Montorio ranks as the 55th largest hydro plant in Italy. With a capacity of 110 MW, it represents 0.51% of Italy’s total hydro capacity of 21,383 MW. Italy has 107 hydro plants with a combined capacity of 21,383 MW. Compared to the largest hydro plant in Italy, Centrale idroelettrica Luigi Einaudi at 1,200 MW, Montorio is approximately 9.2% the size.

Hydropower is a significant contributor to Italy’s energy mix, providing around 16% of the country’s total electricity generation. The Montorio plant utilizes the natural water resources of the region, enhancing the sustainability of Italy’s energy production. It is situated in the Abruzzo region, approximately 150 km east of Rome.
