Quweira — 103 MW Solar

Quweira is a 103 MW solar power plant located in Jordan. It is the largest solar facility in the country and plays a significant role in the development of renewable energy. The plant was commissioned to harness solar energy for electricity generation.

As the 1st largest solar plant in Jordan, Quweira represents 18.15% of the country’s total solar capacity of 568 MW. Jordan has 25 solar plants with a combined capacity of 568 MW, while the largest facility, Quweira, stands alone at 103 MW. This makes Quweira the entirety of the solar capacity for the top-ranked plant.

Solar energy is increasingly important in Jordan’s energy landscape, especially given the country’s high solar irradiation levels. The government is focusing on expanding renewable energy sources to reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels. Quweira is located in the southern part of Jordan, approximately 150 km from the capital city, Amman.
