Spiritwood Station — 106 MW Natural Gas

Spiritwood Station is a 106.2 MW gas-fired power plant located in the United States, operated by Great River Energy since its commissioning in 2014. This facility also utilizes coal as a secondary fuel source.

It ranks as the 919th largest gas plant in the United States. With a capacity of 106.2 MW, it represents 0.02% of the country’s total gas capacity of 592,244 MW. The United States has 1,883 gas plants with a combined capacity of 592,244 MW. Compared to the largest gas plant, West County Energy Center at 4,263 MW, Spiritwood Station is about one-forty-first the size.

Natural gas is increasingly becoming a primary energy source in the U.S., accounting for about 40% of the total electricity generation. The plant is located in North Dakota, approximately 150 km west of Fargo.
