America’s leading energy company, NextEra Energy, increased its net income by 9.5% to $2.407 billion in the second quarter of 2026, following $2.164 billion in the same period last year. Net income rose to $3.144 billion from $2.08 billion in the same period last year. Earnings per share increased to $1.15 from $1.05 in the same period last year.<\/p>\n
The company’s regional energy company, Florida Power & Light (FPL), reported net income of $1.412 billion in the second quarter, following $1.257 billion in the same period last year. FPL’s growth is driven by “ongoing disciplined capital investments.” The company’s capital expenditures were approximately $2.8 billion in the second quarter and are expected to be between $12 billion and $13 billion by the end of the year.<\/p>\n
NextEra CEO John Ketchum stated that the Florida energy market is “one of the fastest-growing markets in the country” and that FPL will meet demand and provide “continuous low bills.” The company announced that it is on track to meet its target of approximately 900 megawatts of solar energy and 1.4 gigawatts of energy storage installations this year.<\/p>\n
The company’s renewable energy development company, NextEra Energy Resources, reported revenue of $1.634 billion in the second quarter, following $983 million in the same period last year. The company’s income rose to $1.291 billion from $1.091 billion in the same period last year.<\/p>\n
NextEra Energy expects its total new production and storage capacity to be between 76.6 gigawatts and 107.6 gigawatts by 2026-2032, including 32-43 gigawatts of energy storage capacity. Ketchum said, “Energy storage continues to be an important growth driver, and we aim to maintain our strong position in this field.”<\/p>\n
