With a capacity of 105 MW, it represents 2.16% of Bulgaria&#8217;s total coal capacity of 4,859 MW. Bulgaria has 11 coal plants with a combined capacity of 4,859 MW. In comparison, the largest coal plant, Maritsa Itzok-2 power station, has a capacity of 1,602 MW, making Republika about 6.5% the size of this facility.<\/p>\n<p>Coal is a significant energy source in Bulgaria, providing around 52% of the country&#8217;s electricity generation.
