Compared to the largest oil plant, Old Harbour at 348 MW, Hunts Bay is approximately 1\/3rd the size.<\/p>\n<p>Oil remains a critical component of Jamaica&#8217;s energy mix, supplying about 80% of the country&#8217;s electricity generation. The Hunts Bay plant plays a vital role in meeting the energy demands of the Kingston metropolitan area.
