Compared to the largest hydro plant, the Three Gorges Dam at 22,500 MW, Sandaowan is about 1\/200 the size.<\/p>\n<p>Hydropower plays a significant role in China&#8217;s energy landscape, providing approximately 20% of the country&#8217;s electricity. The geographical features of China, with its numerous rivers and mountainous regions, facilitate hydroelectric generation.
