Cerro Dominador CSP — 110 MW Solar

Cerro Dominador CSP is a 110 MW solar power plant located in the Atacama Desert, Chile. This facility is part of a larger initiative to harness renewable energy sources in the region and is operated by an undisclosed entity.

Ranking as the 11th largest solar plant in Chile, Cerro Dominador contributes to a total solar capacity of 4,458 MW from 81 plants across the country. With its 110 MW capacity, it accounts for approximately 2.47% of Chile’s total solar generation capacity. The largest solar plant, Copiapó Solar Project, has a capacity of 390 MW, making Cerro Dominador about 28% the size of this facility.

Solar energy is increasingly significant in Chile’s energy mix, especially in the northern regions where solar irradiation is high. The country aims to expand its renewable energy footprint to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Cerro Dominador is situated approximately 1,000 km north of Santiago in the Antofagasta Region.
