Los Andes II — 120 MW Solar

Los Andes II is a 120 MW solar power plant located in Chile. This facility contributes to the country’s solar energy generation capacity.

It ranks as the 8th largest solar plant in Chile. With a capacity of 120 MW, it represents 2.69% of Chile’s total solar capacity of 4,458 MW. Chile has 81 solar plants with a combined capacity of 4,458 MW. Compared to the largest solar plant, the Copiapó Solar Project at 390 MW, this facility is about 1/3rd the size.

Solar energy is increasingly important in Chile’s energy mix, accounting for approximately 14% of the total electricity generation. The Los Andes II plant takes advantage of the region’s high solar irradiation levels. It is located about 1,600 km north of Santiago in the Atacama Desert region.
