Pietarsaari (Wisapower Oy) is a 116 MW biomass power plant located in Finland. Operated by UPM-Kymmene Oyj Wisaforest, this facility utilizes biomass and oil as fuel sources. It contributes to Finland’s renewable energy generation capacity.

It ranks as the 5th largest biomass plant in Finland. With 116 MW, it represents 5.56% of the country’s total biomass capacity of 2,087 MW. Finland has 36 biomass plants with a combined capacity of 2,087 MW. Compared to the largest biomass plant, Toppila 1 ja 2 at 195 MW, Pietarsaari is approximately 60% the size.

Biomass is an important part of Finland’s energy mix, accounting for about 18% of the total electricity generation. The country promotes the use of biomass to reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy security. Pietarsaari is located approximately 400 km west of Helsinki in the Ostrobothnia region.
