Caçú I — 130 MW Biomass

Caçú I is a 130 MW biomass power plant located in Brazil, commissioned in 2010. The facility utilizes biomass as its primary fuel source, contributing to the renewable energy sector in the country.

It ranks as the 12th largest biomass plant in Brazil. With 130 MW, it accounts for 1.03% of Brazil’s total biomass capacity of 12,644 MW. Brazil has 425 biomass plants with a combined capacity of 12,644 MW. Compared to the largest biomass plant, Klabin Celulose at 330 MW, Caçú I is approximately 2/5ths the size.

Biomass is an increasingly important part of Brazil’s energy mix, helping to diversify energy sources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The country’s vast agricultural resources provide ample feedstock for biomass generation. Caçú I is situated in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, approximately 200 km from the city of Campo Grande.
