Tilghemt 1 — 200 MW Natural Gas

Tilghemt 1 stands as a significant player in Algeria’s energy landscape, ranking #25 out of 59 power generation facilities in the country. This gas-fired plant has a capacity of 200 MW, contributing approximately 1.11% to Algeria’s total energy capacity of 18,000 MW. Commissioned in 1980 and operated by the Société Algérienne de Production de l’Électricité (SPE), Tilghemt 1 showcases Algeria’s reliance on natural gas as a primary energy source, a trend reflected in its status as the 24th largest gas plant among 31 gas facilities nationwide.
